Connect
We bring together Igbo associations, organizations, and individuals. We’re building a network and directory so that Igbo people in any city can find their community, and so groups can find partners.
What We Do
Igbo people have built associations, organizations, and communities all over the world. Our job is to connect them. We help Igbo people and groups find one another, work together, and turn good ideas into action, without replacing the work already being done in their communities.
How We Work
We bring together Igbo associations, organizations, and individuals. We’re building a network and directory so that Igbo people in any city can find their community, and so groups can find partners.
We create spaces for the community to talk, from gatherings and events to forums where members raise ideas and tell us what matters most.
We celebrate Igbo heritage, as with our Igbo Cultural Festival, which began in 2024, and we support the language, culture, and mentorship work of Igbo organizations across the community. We’re also working toward a cultural heritage center as a physical home for that work.
We’re developing a process for community members to propose ideas and initiatives. The ones with the greatest benefit for the Igbo community will receive our support and resources.
Our Approach
Strong communities start with connection, but unity isn’t built by simply bringing people together. It’s built through the relationships, structures, and opportunities that allow people to accomplish things together.
The Igbo community already has no shortage of associations, organizations, and talent. Our role isn’t to replace any of it. We don’t need to run every initiative ourselves. Sometimes the best thing we can do is bring the right people together, back an effort that’s already working, or help a new idea get started. Our role is to make that easier, while respecting that every group has its own strengths, needs, and capacity.
We help people and groups discover one another before asking them to coordinate.
Every association keeps its independence. We work together where interests are shared, without requiring groups to operate identically or answer to us.
We support existing efforts before creating new ones. The community has enough organizations, and we don’t want to add one more.
We build systems, records, leadership, and resources that let good work continue beyond any single event, person, or generation.
We track whether we’re making progress, share what we find, and change course when something isn’t working.
